REPLACEMENT OF BBC REPORTER, NUR SHIREOSMAN
Sir,
The Government of PUNTLAND STATE OF SOMALIA demands an immediate replacement of the BBC Somali Section local reporter, Nur Shire Osman.
Nur Shire Osman has been involved in activities incompatible with his job. Starting tomorrow, June 19,2000, Mr. Osman is not authorized to operate in PUNTLAND STATE OF SOMALIA as a BBC reporter.
Unfortunately, my Government had no any other choice, but to demand Mr. Osman’s replacement as he has been repeatedly advised in the past on the need for objective reporting from this part of Somalia with no positive response.
My Government, however, is willing to propose a neutral candidate for the job or the opportunity to discuss with BBC World Service, Somali Section, on a possible replacement reporter.
